Harley David Bike soon in India

The world fame US maker Harley-David is to make its presence in the Indian market on firm foot. It will install an assembly plant in Haryana during the first half of the next year. This will become the company’s second outside plant after Brazil . The company’s MD for India said this move is after a strong base made through the dealer network.

However, there is no information about the capacity and the likely investment for this facility. Presently the bikes are directly imported as CBUs from its apex plant in the US. The company’s President and Chief Operating Officer said that the response to the initial launches in the Indian market has boosted the company’s presence and the time has come to widen its wings with this assembling facility.

Once the facility becomes fully operational the company will derive components from its US plant and the technicians at the facility will start assembling the bikes. Yet some of the models will be continued to be imported as CBUs as Harley –David has 12 models in Indian market, since its entry in August 2009.
